mini lst front/ rear diff problems

Hey everybody,  I was wondering if anyone has a solution for stripping the front and rear planetary gears in the transmission.  Dean was saying that someone makes metal gears to replace the plastic ones.  They weren't for the mlst but he said they would fit. Any info would be great.  Thanks guys.

Re: mini lst front/ rear diff problems

Here's a link for a thread on Losi's forum discussing it. We had thought that the Mini REvo/Slash diff gears might fit, but you'd have to compare them.  http://forum.losi.com/showthread.php?t=92    I've been in contact with a guy on RCTech that is going to try and have some of the internal gears machined out of metal, so we'll see how that goes... might be a long shot.  If MIP ever made their ball diff out of metal, I think the problem would be solved.

Re: mini lst front/ rear diff problems

I was looking at the toyz and it looks like the metal internal gears from there mini inferno might fit but there is no way to tell with out buying them and trying it.  Unless anybody out there has one or has some spare gears we can try?

Re: mini lst front/ rear diff problems

I did look at those but the bevel gears and spider gears inside are still plastic at least they were when I bought them a while ago so really it didn't change my original problem. Someone on rc tech said they found some on ebay but I looked and couldn't find any.

Re: mini lst front/ rear diff problems

Try shimming your diffs...
putting a washer between the bearing and the plastic gears so the teeth
are tighter together and mesh better?

Here is a link to spring washers that some people have used with some success in making their
Mini LST diffs a little stronger.

On another Fourm this is called the optimus1T mod for the guy who first tried it...
and shared the info with everyone else.
